Peace Video makes Video of the Day on YouTube India

Submitted by truthi on November 30, 2008 - 7:34pm.

At 2am PT on Saturday, November 29th, Luminaries were notified that our video for Peace had been selected as the Video of the Day on YouTube India. At this writing, it is the top featured video, and has gotten more than 4000 hits in the last 44 hours.

While we are very excited to watch our hopes for "Peace Worldwide" catch on internationally, we are deeply humbled by the synchronic nature of this occurence. Perhaps due to the actions of a well-intentioned YouTube content editor, within three days of the terrible attacks in India, our video, with all its embedded message appeared as if part of the healing process that is now taking place. We are grateful to whoever has aligned this and offer our sincerest compassion and support to the people of Mumbai and India. May all people unite in the cause of peace...

Luminaries "Peace" Video wins Best Editing award@ Elevate Film Fest

Submitted by truthi on October 23, 2008 - 8:45pm.

On the afternoon of Sunday, October 5th, 2008, Luminaries and about 6000 of our closest friends were packed into the Nokia Theatre in downtown Los Angeles to enjoy this year's Elevate Film Festival. Among the many brilliant and uplifting films on display was Luminaries' first music video, our single, "Peace," which we recorded in late July. We were truly honored to participate in this event, joining film and music afficionados from around the world to celebrate films that inspire and transmit a positive message.  "Peace" was featured alongside videos from Grammy winners, apl.d.ap, of the Black-Eyed Peas, and blues artist, Keb' Mo', as well as documentaries and short films from many talented others.

We are proud to announce that the "Peace" video won the award for Best Editing, thanks to the amazing work put in by Charles Little.  We love you, Charles! Thank you so much for your efforts; we were truly blown away...

We shot the video on Thursday, September 24th, and would like to send our eternal gratitude to following folks who worked long hours to light, shoot, and edit this video:

Director:  Justin Thomas Ostensen
Producers:   Marc Salomon and Aaron Krinsky
Director of Photography:  Gabriel J. Lewis
Editor:  Charles Little
Camera Operator:  Jeff Dolen
Assistant Camera: Alex Falk
Gaffer:  Darryl Walthrop
Key Grip:  Rockey Romines
Best Boy:  Mike Baio
Production Assistant:  Jen Chang
Production Assistant:  Colin MacDonald

And a special note of thanks to Sharon London of Elevate Films, who worked so hard to make this happen.  We love you!

We would also like to thank our beautiful friends who made the trip to Irvine to add their brilliance to this video...

Luminaries interviewed on KXLU radio, Loyala Marymount Univ.

Submitted by truthi on October 23, 2008 - 8:36pm.

Any coincidence that it was k-x-LU radio? At 9:45am, on Wednesday, October 1st, Luminaries had our first live radio interview on Loyola Marymount University's KXLU 88.9FM, to promote the release of our single, "Peace," as well as the video debut at the Elevate Film Festival.  We had a blast on air with the host of The Dirty Mop show, Mapi.  She played three of our tracks, and even invited us to perform in the studio, a live acoustic version of "Be the Change."  Much love and many thanks to Mapi, and all who tuned in!
